78 grill trim?
Well I have searched and cant find an answer to my question. I recently aquired a 78 cheyene that originally came with a chrome grille. Currently it has a tube grill and I want to go back to stock. I bought a 78 grill and I went to the wrecking yard and obtained the factory mounting brackets but while I was there I found a 79 grill that still had the horizontal trim installed. I bought the trim thinking it might be correct for the 78 grill. Am I right? Also what would be the correct colors for the grill? Thanks

Re: 78 grill trim?
The horizontal trim is correct for a 78. The grille colors (stock) were light silver, dark charcoal, and chromed.

Re: 78 grill trim?
So would the entire grill be in the plastic chrome or just the edges?

Re: 78 grill trim?
yeah if its a chrome grille, the entire plastic part would be chrome. none of them were multi-colored on the plastic part. I think right now if you want to find new OE grille with the bowtie, the only color available is the dark charcoal. I've seen them on ebay and I think classic parts of america has a few.

Re: 78 grill trim?
The only grille that had chromed plastic was the '80, and it looked different. Otherwise they would be silver or charcoal, but they look good black with trim too.

Re: 78 grill trim?
Thanks for the info and man what a nice looking truck/grill you have there. So paint it silver and add the aluminum horizontal bars and I should be back to stock. Thanks!
