Brake problems!! Need Advise..
hey guys,
Just got a 1972 chevy w/ power brakes and front disc. Truck doesn't stop well at all. The pedal is rock hard from the beginning and doesn't seem to go down very far. Would this be the booster and or master cylinder, or could it just be air in the brake lines? Had the front wheels off and the brakes look good. Hopefully one of you guys ran into this before. Thanks Bryan

Sounds like the booster. Pull the vacuum source off the booster and see if anything changes. If not, it's probably the booster.

Re: Brake problems!! Need Advise..
You can usually hear the vacuum leak of a bad booster and the way to confirm is to pull the vacuum line off the booster and plug it. Vacuum noise should stop and engine should run better!
Your problem suggests either a bad booster or an improper pedal ratio.... The pedal ratio thing could only happen if the stock pieces were changed (not likely) It IS also possible that the wrong master for the application has been installed |

Re: Brake problems!! Need Advise..
Thanks for the help guys. the pcv vac hose was off, and the booster is hooked to the same port off the engine, i think that will fix it.
Thanks
