Calculated the mileage.

Well, we drove to Wilmington yesterday in the burb and filled it up when we got there. Then drove back doing 75-85 in Cruise. Came back and filled it back up, calculated gallons+miles. 22MPG! #7500 4x4 27 y/o Suburban getting 22mpg. Awesome.

Re: Calculated the mileage.

sounds like your speedo is incorrect. If your speedo is correct, im sure, almost positive GM would be putting that technology in all of their trucks and suv's. With my speedo calibrated to the tires and rear gear... 5.3, 4L60, 3.42rear gear, tuned for gas mileage 5600# on the sticker, cruising at 75 from houston to florida I think I might have seen 21... in my opinion, no way is your suburban getting that kinda mileage.... unless your running a low compression engine with turbo(s)...

Re: Calculated the mileage.

Did you miss the sig line on having a 6.2 diesel?

1987 R10 6.2 700R4 3.08's
I get 22+MPG all the time, 24-25 with mixed city/rural/highway driving, I bet I would get 27 if I only drove at 55mph with no stops. The 6.2 makes lousy power but is very efficient 1800-2500RPM.

The key is the diesel, GM doesn't put this in trucks because we all wanted 400hp instead of 195HP and great MPG. And now they have to add EGR and soot traps which kills you. And while turbos pump up the power they also increase fuel needs dramatically.

My 5400# 5.3 4l60E cab and a half 99 3/4 ton gets 15-17. My 72 402/375hp 1 ton Longhorn got 9.5. My 90 454SS got 9.5.

Re: Calculated the mileage.

Nice numbers. I hope to see that in mine. I doubt I will as the smallest tires ill run will be 35's but will gear it right. I should get around 18 from what I've seen.

Throw some pics up of the Burb.
