I was just wonderin what would need to be replaced on a 87 chevy 6.2l diesel after its been sitting for 25 years? or would it be fine to drive?

HAHAHAHAH.

I'd say an oil change and fuel filter change would be a good idea, if it'll start that is.....If it has a 6.2 and it's been sitting a while....I'm guessing the motor is nuked like most and that's why they parked it

well more like 19 years to be exact and it only has about 75000kms on it and nothing was wrong with it when it was parked they just moved on the other vehicles

Change all the fluids, checking to make sure there is no antifreeze in the oil. personally I'd pull the glow plugs and try to turn the engine over.

1. Drain all fuel by disconnecting the hose at the lift pump (lower right corner of the motor) and the return line (just in front of it). Put in 5 gallons or so of new diesel. Reconnect the hoses. Dirty or really old diesel will screw you over.
2. Replace the fuel filter (box on firewall).
3. Open the air bleed on top of the filter (hint- screwdriver) and put a hose on the nipple (top right of the filter base), running it into a catch can.
4. Either a) remove the filter vent screw, cover the port with your thumb, then apply vacuum to the hose you put on until clean fuel with no bubbles appears, then reinstal the the vent screw: or b) disconnect the glow plug controller, then crank the engine until fuel with no bubbles appears. rememember 10-15 seconds max crank until allowing the starter to cool for 5 minutes or so!
5. Once you get clean fuel you can try to start it.

DO NOT USE ETHER (STARTING FLUID). It will bend the rods (usually).

I found after mine set 1 year that the pump and injectors needed to be replaced.
