Re: 5.3 help
Thats pretty good but the warrenty is kinda short if you dont have your ducks in a row to put it in. price is pretty standard for a 5.3

Re: 5.3 help
I agree, the warranty seems verging on pointless. Of course, it is not completely. Price seems fair. Someone on here recently started working for LKQ. I don't remember who though right now. Maybe they can get you one for close to that. And then you can help out a board member. Just a thought man. The 5.3 will rock in your truck.

Re: 5.3 help
I have seen alot of them with that mileage on them with the trans included. GM made millions of them and there are tons of them out there. Unless you are wanting to use your existing trans, I would hold out for one with a trans included. Not sure about your area but around NC a 5.3 goes for about $400.

Re: 5.3 help
Yeah, 60 a week in gas sucks. $400 for engine and ecu, harness is a pretty awesome deal.

Re: 5.3 help
Hey guys, I found a deal like this one too and wanted to ask some questions on this thread if its ok.
the engine is 15mins from me and its a 5.3lt from a 2003 2500hd. It doesn't have a trans and has low miles. But wiring harness and ecu are included for 450$cash, he also has an 8.1lt that has a trans for 700. So what's better? Also I am paying 70$ a week in gas like flaming. And I can't afford it. But I could get this engine

Not a bad deal. I hear that the 8.1L has a bad rep of piston slap and really sucks the gas. I would stick with the 5.3L or look for a 6.0L if you want more power. Just my .02.

Re: 5.3 help
Actually I think the 8.1l came out of the HD. and he had the 5.3l as a spare O.o haha. He was sort of a confusing guy, didn't speak clearly.

Re: 5.3 help
flaming I dont know that you would save gas money....I have a 5.3 on my truck and still pay around 60. a week on gas... d*mn right foot doesnt let off lol..... by the way I bought mine in san antonio where I live 900 for the complete engine with harness and acc... etc etc,, but only had 30k miles and got to hear it run b4 they pulled,,, I had decided to use the original 700r4 but then decided to go back and buy the 4L60E with 17k miles , for and additional 400 from the same guys, they sold me a transm from a different newer vehicle , and in case you dont know... some here know,,,, he sold me a 2008 trans. even though I told him I needed a 2005 4L60E and it went out after 200 miles,,, they took my truck to an independent transmission shop to make sure it wasnt the harness... and they figured, it went out because the transmission was a year too new... anyways they change the valve body and a few other things to the 2005 model and overhauled all back together and all for FREE..all I am trying to say is make sure the people your buying from have a good reputation..... any wayss.. good luck

Re: 5.3 help
I'm just curious, how many miles a week do you normally drive? What kind of mileage does it get now?
