need frame info/help

I was wondering if there was any way of putting a 75 c10 frame under a 68 body?

Re: need frame info/help

May I ask why ? Lots of people want to do this for the later model suspension, but the later model stuff (stock) will basically bolt onto the early model frames. Not to mention all the aftermarket stuff available now. I heard of someone trying this and seems like there was an issue with the bed being a little higher than the cab if you use those model frames. Maybe someone else here has done it and can tell you. Good luck..

Re: need frame info/help

I had an 81 frame right next to a 67. 67 frame is flat under the cab, the frame mounts are outboard of the frame, and the bed is raised higher than the cab. The bed mounts are at different spacing.
The 81 frame is stepped down under the cab, the cab mounts are inboard, the gas tank is outboard and would interfere with the cab floor under the driver's seat.

In short, if you are making a 4X4 with at least a 3" of body lift, then you can put old body on new frame. If not then nogo.

Best to take the front suspension from the newer truck and bolt it in entirety on the old frame. Works great.

Re: need frame info/help

I'm interested in doing this because I want to convert my long bed into a short bed. I've been looking for a short bed frame on here and not having much luck and one of my buddies is parting out his 75 and said he would give me the frame if we an make it fit. I didn't want to chop up my lwb frame either I'm on a real tight budget so I'm trying to spend the least amount of money possible...thanks a lot Guys you were a real help. If anyone knows of anyone getting rid of a swb frame near So Cal let me know, thanks.
