after burnout it wont run

72 pontiac 350 with 2bbl q-jet in a 76 2wd blazer. After I did a burnout it was running very bad. It would idle fine but in "drive" it just boggs down when I give it throttle. I replaced cap, rotor and plugs. I was thinking accelortor pump would be next. The distributor is adjusted all the way towards the firewall, which is where it was before. After new parts, messing with timing and the air\fuel screws on carb it still runs bad. Any help is greatly appreciated

I hope you didn't stretch the timing chain. How many miles are on that motor?

Re: after burnout it wont run

I have no clue how many miles are on the old motor. The PO said it was a 400 small block. After doing some research I realized that pontiac didn't have small/big blocks. I found the I'd numbers and figured what it was

Re: after burnout it wont run

check your tranny fluid, while in drive in could be putting a big load on your engine
