Adding Aux Battery
Ok, I got my Aux Battery tray from Scotts Super Trucks, Thanks Scott!!
Now how do I bolt this thing in? There is one bolt hole that is already threaded on the support, but seems like the others will have to be added. Has anyone retro-fitted one yet? Pics would be awesome! I'll post a pic of the tray tonight, its a monster! Heavy duty metal construction was used throughout.

Re: Adding Aux Battery
Lay the tray in and mark the holes. Drill. Bolt in tray. Don't forget to move the horn and voltage regulator

Re: Adding Aux Battery
Here is a not so great pic that I took of a factory installed setup. I took it to help myself during the reassembly process.

Re: Adding Aux Battery
Yep mark the holes and go. If your lucky, you won't have to move anything. I recommend the Hellroaring solid state unit, it's a bit pricey but it's the best out there. I have a thread 2nd battery hook up question (Electrical). There are pics. I went 2 ga wire on all Pos wire

Re: Adding Aux Battery
Thanks Breeh, that helps a bit. I was wondering how it got past the headlight. Right now if I lay it in there it is pulling on the wiring harness. Will have to do some more in depth fitting before I drill and mount.

Re: Adding Aux Battery
they weren't all done the same. My voltage reg was mounted on the other 'leg' in my longhorn, and on the other aux tray I have laying around.

Re: Adding Aux Battery
Ya, I just pulled Shifty's old post out of my PM box and realized he told you how to do it. There are pre-drilled holes on the side of the aux box for the regulator and there'll be a half inch spacer required behind the headlights.
How you been Andy? Haven't seen you around in a while.

Re: Adding Aux Battery
hey red, check the height with the battery installed, mine looked higher then the pass. side, but don't know! I have since pulled my front end off again so I can't measure it. I think I used one or two factory holes and the rest I had to drill
I'll probably use side posts to give more clearance, lmk how you wire it up congrats. LHM

Re: Adding Aux Battery
the Aux tray does in fact sit higher. Since top posts were used till the end of 70, I would say there is no worry on the taller 69 - 72 hood. However, I don't think the option was around in 67 or 68, so top post clearance MIGHT be an issue, but I doubt it.
Side posts are better in almost every way anyways. |

Re: Adding Aux Battery
Hmm, well, I think that my core support may have had an aux battery before it came to me. Thanks Livrat!! 3 of the bolt holes were already there and threaded so it just mounted right up. I'll see about getting the 4th bolt in later.
