6.2 deisel flatspot...rpm limiter?

At higher RPM, my '85 6.2 deisel hits a flatspot. I don't know what RPM it is, but when I wind it up in 2nd or 3rd gear it falls on it's face. Is there a built in rpm limiter to protect the engine?

There's usually a governor in the Injector Pump. We need to know what RPM it quits at to find out if its quitting at the correct time. Diesels don't turn nearly as high as gas engines.

It feels like a governor is on there...don't know the RPM, but seems like around 3K.

Dyno, it's 3K RPM. All diesels, even trailer trucks are limited to 3,000 rpm. I don't know about the really big diesels like RR trains ect, but I have heard ships will only turn 150-200 RPM.

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

I think 6.2s are usually governed at 3800-4K. Assuming you have loud exhaust (mine had dual straight pipes) the exhaust goes quiet when you hit that brick wall.

I'm converting my '87 to a gasser... for now at least. 6.2s dont like having 4.10s and no overdrive
