How many leafs should I have

83' swb c10

How many leafs should be in stock rear leaf springs? Thanks

Also the coils on my front coil sprigs are touching. like three coils are stacked. does that mean the PO heated them?

1/2 ton pick ups have 3 different leaf set ups you have 4,6, and 8... your front coils sound like they are heated

I guess mine is the odd man out. I have 7 on the drivers side and 6 on the passenger side. I think a few were added by the PO.

I was told this Project had a L-72 427 425HP, It did not.
It does have a 427 block and parts from various 427 motors. It will end up with a nice strong 454 in the end.
It has not been run for 20+ years

If the coils are touching the PO heated them. Consider lowering springs from Summit Racing, or find a fresh set of stock ones and cut 1 to 1.5 coils off without excessive heat.
