Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
I ran Sanderson's on my old '67 Nova back in the 90's. Port matched to my heads, they ran and looked great. Kinda pricey though.

2" Ramhorns are easy to find.
In fact, I tripped over one in the dirt at a pick-n-pull today.

Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
Northern 85 when you mentioned you wanted to tone down.. is it too loud. I ask because I have ram horns.. and my truck has a nice mellow sound, but am wondering how much louder it would be with headers. I have headers on my other car.. and believe it or not am now thinking abotu leaving the horns on. It seems to drive ok and I don't know how much would be picked up HP wise going headers.

I had long headers with turbos and duel's out the back, i wasnt happy with it and went to Ramhorn's with a Y pipe and single out the back side, and it sounds so much sweeter. In my opinion.

Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
Hmmm.. I am considering leaving now what I have in place (ram horns) only thing is I have to cover the smog equipment holes with some studs. Do these last long or do they come out eventually over time. I remember reading somewhere that these were comparable or even better than a shorty header in most cases. I was strongly considering headers because I hear there's a gain with opening up the exhaust.

Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
Back in the day, I used to put small pipe plugs from the hardware store in the smog holes. They rust pretty good, so don't plan on taking them out. I don't remember them ever rusting out completely though. The rams horn will give you better low end torque in most cases, but headers will pull harder up the RPM range.

Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
Slick69, yes its to loud,it sounds great at idle but as soon as you get on the gas it sounds like a race truck. The truck has long tube headers into a 3 inch x pipe into 2 1/2 flomaster mandrel bend aluminized pipe, into flowmaster hushpower 2s then straight out the back with square tips. I agree with Dark1 as long as you are not looking peak hp ram horns are the best bet. I have never heard of anyone haveing any probs with pipe plugs or them rusting out. Been told many times that the 2 1/2 inch corvette ram is the best performance manifold next to headers. In my opinion they are the best fit for what we are looking.

Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
I want to swap out my headers (Hooker Competition) for some 2 1/2" ram horns. Who knows the best place to order a set? Once done anyone who wants my old headers can pick them up free of charge.

Re: Anyone runnin 2 1/2" ram horn exhaust manifolds?
I was always told that rams horn manifolds flow as good as headers, who knows? I have far more miles on them over the years (nova's chevelles and various other chevys) than headers and wouldn't skip a beat to run them again. Nowadays we think that if we dont have headers we dont have a real hotrod. Now, climbing back down off my soapbox, I like seeing, and hearing a nice set of duals out of ramshorns just as well as headers. Truth be known, if you bolt on a set of ramshorns you probably will never have to touch them again as long as you own the truck.
