Re: So I bought a Big Block....

OKAY BAD NEWS TODAY!

drove into town to pick up some new v-belts for my tractor... I'm heading down the road and my belt starts screeching.... the right as I try to turn into the next parking lot I hear a big thump and then the sound of something heavy and metallic hitting the ground... Then I loose PS and I watch in amazement as my crank pulley slowly rolls through on coming traffic... luckily no-one hit it, or me when I went to retreive it. But now it seems that Im just going to look into getting a whole new aftermarket serpentine setup, or a V belt setup, either or. Any suggestions? I'm going to call the local junkyard to see if they have a stock v belt setup, I only need PS and alt. and the reason I like to get rid of the stock serp setup is because its kind of half ass out of wack anyhow.. we had to shim the alt/ PS bracket out from the block to keep the belt from popping off . And for those of you wondering what the hell happened to the crank pulley... It was from an 89 so it hadd both v and serpentine pulleys spotwelded together, but somehow when we went to put a belt on it was almost a 1/4" out of line.. so we cut off the outer pulley with a grinder and that worked great, but the pulley bolts must have loosened with a combination of it being slightly wobbly and weakened and then a total case of metal fatigue.. What are you guys going with for the aftermarket setups?
