Body Lift and 33 inch tires
I'm thinking about putting a 2" body lift on my '71 Chevy truck and was wondering if that was sufficient to accomodate size 33 tires and what problems may I encounter when doing this?
Can anyone give me any pointers on what to pay attention to when doing this? Your response is appreciated. |

should fit with no problems. when installing the lift, do one side at a time and leave the bolts loose on the other side. then you don't have to realign the body and cab. good luck!

Thanks YellowGMC! I was also told that with the 2" body lift, I would have to do a lot of modification with the brake lines, radiator shroud, etc... sounds more difficult with everyone I talk to...any truth?

I believe with a body lift you do end up having to tweak more items than with a suspension lift. In addition to what you mention you have steering, fuel line from cab to frame rail don't forget gaps betweenbumpers and body, e-brake cable, clutch linkeage, throtle linkeage, Suspension lift slightly more but in my opinion more straight forward and for 2" really nothing else to mess with but adjust drag link.

Thanks again! Another question, I'm thinking of doing the body lift myself to save money, but some people I know said I can have a local off-road shop install it with all the modifications for approximately $300. Does that sound reasonable for the amount of work involved? Thanks for your response.

I have a stock, worn out 2wd that clears 32x11.5x15 coopers. 33's should be easy.

How 'bout pics? I too installed heavy duty springs- decided against the 2" lift right now, and the '33 fit great. Looks like a 4x4.

For the money you are going to spend on the body lift and installation, you should go ahead and get a 2 1/2 in. suspension lift. It is very easy to put on and it will improve your ride.
