Re: first post on here, what do yall think
WELCOME FROM JUST DOWN THE ROAD & OVER THE HILL IN KENTUCKY. I'VE NEVER CUT A FRAME DOWN (YET) BUT I CAN'T COME UP WITH ANY KIND OF SENSABLE REASON, BESIDES MOVING A CROSSMEMBER OR TWO NOT TO CUT IT BEHIND THE CAB. MAYBE SOMEONE CAN COME UP WITH A REASONABLE EXPLINATION WHY THIS SHOULDN'T BE DONE, BUT I CAN'T THINK OF ONE. IT SEEMS PERFECTLY LOGICAL TO ME TO WANT TO DO THE SURGURY IN THE STRAIGHT SECTION OF FRAME DIRECTLY BEHIND THE CAB. AS A RULE I DON'T GIVE ADVISE ON THINGS THAT I'VE NEVER PERSONALLY DONE. I CONSIDER MYSELF PRETTY MECHANICAL MINDED & I'VE BEEN DOING THESE OLD TRUCKS SINCE 1985, BUT I IN NO WAY CONCIDER MY SELF AN EXPERT OR GURU ON THESE OLD TRUCKS OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. THERES AN AWFUL LOT OF VERY GOOD INFORMATION ON THIS FORUM.. BUT YOU KINDA HAVE TO SEPERATE THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFF. I JUST HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE GIVE WRONG OR MISLEADING ADVICE ABOUT A PARTICULAR SUBJECT, THEREBY LEADING SOMEONE SEEKING INFO. IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. I WILL SAY THOUGH THAT THE WORST CASE CENARIO IS YOU CAN SCREW UP THE FRAME BEYOND REPAIR, IN WITCH CASE YOU'LL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRAME, & LONG W.B. FRAMES ARE NOT ALL THAT HARD TO FIND ON HERE. SOMEONE WITH MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN ME IS BOUND TO CHIME IN & GIVE YOU THE INFO. GOOD LUCK. JOHN
