Ill be seein ya!!

Well guys it looks like im out of the truck buisness for a bit. Just sold my project so now onto finishing my house. Ill be checking in from time to time to see what everyone is up to.

After the house is done I think im going to get the one car that got away from me. Wife suggested i get it so I just may. When I was in high school I helped a guy in the military down the street from me rebuild his 1968 firebird. We built a 455 and put a th400 behind it and and completely went thru the interior and all that the car needed was some tlc and paint. Man was that car awesome sounding and had butloads of power. My mom told me for my first car if I saved up half she would match it. Well I had saved up some and when the guy got his orders to transfer they were overseas so he had to sell the car. Well I had my half of what he wanted so I went to my mom and said thats the car I want. Well I was 16 and im sure you can guess how the conversation went. So here I am almost 20 years later still wanting one.

Thanks everyone for all the great info and dont worry Ill have another truck before to long as well.

Re: Ill be seein ya!!

I am in the same position. After 13 yrs of playing with trucks I am cleaning out everything I have and moving on to another project.

Won't be long before I find a replacement, I know to much about about chevy trucks to be gone for too long lol...

I know ill continue lurking around, as I am sure you wil be.

Good luck on the car build and finding more free time to enjoy it after the house is done...

Well this is it so far. Eventually there will be a 20x30 shop but this is all i could swing right now. I love these trucks too much to stay away for long as well.

Re: Ill be seein ya!!

Its not bad. I designed it myself. Ran out of room in my current house so after searching for one for a couple months I got tired of not finding anything I liked and designed this one. The only thing missing is the laundry shoot the wife wanted from the upstairs to the laundry room and my 20x30 shop.

Here is a pic of the back.

Re: Ill be seein ya!!

I appreciate it guys. They have been bricking it this week and everyday it seems to grow. Most of the house my builder contracted out but I save a few things for myself like electrical and trim and cleanup and yard. Things I know how to do that saved me a chunk of change. Friends help too!!!

I TOOK A COUPLE OF YEAR BRAKE FROM THE INTERNET & OLD TRUCKS & JUNKYARD EXPEDITIONS ALLTOGETHER TO CONCENTRATE ON BUILDING MY HOUSE. GOTTA MAKE SOME SACRIFICES, & GET YOUR PRIORITYS IN ORDER. THE FIRST THING I DID WAS BUILD A 30X50 SHOP & LIVED IN IT FOR A YEAR, UNTIL MY HOUSE WAS DONE ENOUGH TO MOVE INTO. IT'S STILL NOT FINISHED (NOT SURE THAT IT EVER BE ) & I CALL IT MY NEVER ENDING PROJECT & MONEY PIT... BUT GUESS WHAT.... NO MORTGAGE. JOHN

Re: Ill be seein ya!!

Wow, nice house!

I'm doing a complete interior remodel on mine, not fun.

I grew up with first gen birds, but I could never come up with the $ for a decent one, so I finally bugged my dad into giving me his old rust bucket, so now I have both, a 67 C10 and 'bird. These cars really are rust buckets, whatever you buy, look it over super super good and be picky, I think they came with rust from the factory

I grew up with chevelles and i think they came with rust from the factory as well. I love the look of the firebirds. not everyone has one like the camaros and like my trucks i dig the double headlights. now the 69 is where they messed up on both camaros and firebirds by putting that ugly line down the body. Im figuring im gonna have to drop about 8-10k for a 67-68 otherwise itll be sitting at a bodyshop for awhile cause i hate bodywork.

As far as the house I basically ran out of room everywhere in mine. I have a 3 bedroom with 3 kids so my boys are sharing a room and fighting like cats and dogs and my garage houses my most prize posesions wich are my rhino and my 4-wheeler and all my reloading equipment. So it was a time for an upgrade.

Re: Ill be seein ya!!

I'd take a bird over camaro any day They just have more sex appeal to them. Mine has a 1970 Pontiac 400 hiding under that stock hood

I love Chevelles, but I've never had the desire to own one. I love checkin' 'em out at shows too.

From what I've seen 8-10K should get you a nice car, but again, be super picky and bring a magnet (you can put a thin piece of cloth over it so the owner doesn't freak out about paint scratches), and ask for build pics if they have them (anyone who has pride in their ride will have them, a "flipper" will not.)

I hope to get mine in the garage next month. I'm pretty lucky, I have a National Parts Depot outlet about 2 hours away, so I can pick up all the parts I need in person. It needs a whole damn floor

Yeah it all boils down to mama being happy. If mama aint happy, aint nobody happy. Therefor if mama wants a new house thats what she gets. Fortunatley by designing it myself I get some of the things i want myself to. But there are lots more trucks out there and I could always use another trip to the west coast.

Re: Ill be seein ya!!

Great looking house.

I bought a '67 Firebird new with 6 cylinder and 3 on the tree with my military shipping over bonus, paid cash-loved that car.

My wife at the time got it when we divorced and the goofy thing traded it for a '64 Corvair Spyder and still had to have a loan.

Thanks for all the compliments on the house guys. I think itll be decent once done. Not to bad for a shack on a small piece of land.
