As far as i know, GMC's came stock with Leafs, and you could order coils as an option. Likewise, Chevy's came with coils, but you could get leafs as an option.
therefore it is possible for that GMC to have coils.. hope this helps! BTW! Nice find!

Thanks Cheyenne, and to the board for such good info.
Longhorn, I think the engine and tranny might be missing from that truck. |

My GMC has coils, and shows no option for it.
(the numbers on the fram match the GMC VIN too) This (and every other 1/2 ton GMC I have looked at) proves the rule that many ppl think is true, is in fact not true. NOT all GMC trucks had leaf springs. I didn't even think bout the eng being missing...i don't see a drive shaft under there...and he did call it a roller. |

GMC's were still coil-spring stock. I've got the literature from '70 to prove it.
(Mine is, of course, a leaf truck. )

Is it a 1/2 ton? Looks like the grill is in awesome shape.

What about the fact that it's a half ton with clearance lights? Aren't those only supposed to be availible on 3/4 tons and up? Has the wrong front bumper too.

Hmm, i guess i was wrong... Sorry for any misleading information.. does anyone have the final word on this issue? I gues you could get either GMC'c or Chevs with coils or leafs.
Any other ideas? '71

The reason it sits so hi is due to the lack of engine and trans. The original glove box door is missing so i dont know whhat options it had. It was originally olive green. It will be for sale once i get the frame off of it for my 68. The grille is in grea tshape, one little scrape and 2 little rock dings.
