A gas charged shock is just keeping the oil under pressure to keep it from foaming. When the oil foams up it looses it's ability to dampen, but it still is not supporting the weight. So the amount of weight or how often it is loaded don't matter.
The truck would be like an over-grown pogo-stick with out them.
