Should I be disappointed?

I have had my suspension together for a while now on my '64 but just put wheels on it today to see how it sits and to roll it around. I have the CPP modular drop spindles 2.5" with 3" CPP drop springs, and my front crossmember sits about 8" off the ground! Granted the tires I have are about 28" tall and are just for rollers, but I was hoping for more around 4" at the crossmember. Will these springs sag enough to get me where I want to be? Also I'll be running 20x9s up front with a 275/30 tire, what overall diameter will a tire like that be? I don't really want to cut half a coil, but If I have to.. any advice?

Re: Should I be disappointed?

I would run it a bit before I considered cutting coils. I like this calculator for checking variuous tire sizes- LINK

Re: Should I be disappointed?

Ya better safe than sorry I guess right? Oh thanks for that link that's pretty handy. It says I'll lose another .75" of height just by the tire change. Hopefully it settles a little more too

Re: Should I be disappointed?

I think you'll be fine. It take a little while for new springs to settle it.

Re: Should I be disappointed?

Have you 'cycled' the suspension several times? I like to give it several good bounces w/as much weight as possible to help get things set in place.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Should I be disappointed?

I jumped on it a bit just by myself (165 lbs lol) and it did help. I think I was getting close to 5.5" last night, but I think one of the tires is losing air I'll go see what it is here in a little while.
