i have tried several searches but have not seen a solution to: how do you eliminate the chains for the tailgate and install something like the fleetside hinges? i have seen mention of this but not how to...maybe it is so simple that it does not need to be explained?? perhaps someone could provide a thread or just how to! thanks..

Re: eliminate stepside tailgate chains?
My GMC step I used the MAR-K. Works good. Seen some use various late model cables and cabinet or screen door latches. Actually making your own custom cables wouldn't be hard at all. The hardware store sells garage door cable cut to length along with the keepers and stops. Very reasonable. .29 a foot for the 3/8 cable last week for the stuff I used to hang a light in the garage.

Re: eliminate stepside tailgate chains?
I have seen it done several times with S-10 cables.
