VIN question on 76 GMC - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I looked up my info (76 GMC 1 ton)on the decoder site and was wondering what the 3rd letter meant? My vin is an S for the engine. The decoder says "L6 gas" what the heck does that mean? Thanks

Should be a 454 4bbl. Not sure what the L6 means. maybe a RPO #??? Certainly it doesn't mean 292 inline six.

maybe is was a LS6 motor..ya right
