Roll Pan Towing options

I recently received my Mar-K roll pan. I haven't even took it out of the box yet. I recently learned that Sir Michaels sells a roll pan with a flipping license plate, and a matching behind the roll pan hitch.

Wish I saw this before I ordered the Mar-K.

How are regular bolt on hitches with roll pans? Do they hang extremely low in a very ugly way? My truck is lowered 6'' in the rear too so I wouldn't want a hitch to hang low.

Have any of you easily modified a Mar-K rollpan to work with a hidden style hitch?

Are there any regular hitches out there, other than the Sir Michaels, that doesn't hang low?

You will have to buy a hitch that the center bolts in and flip it or make your own.

I would take the easy way out, sell the roll pan you bought and take a loss, buy the right one with the flip down license plate and hitch, simple simple.

Re: Roll Pan Towing options

I think someone on here modified a purchased hitch recently to work with a pan. Maybe do some searching. Jonboy, or something like that, maybe?

Re: Roll Pan Towing options

Oh I wish I had gone with Mar-K! LOL!! I went with Sir Michael's and the hidden hitch setup with the flip license plate idea. It took 4 roll pans. The first 3 went to the trash as they couldn't make them right and they didn't want them back. I finally just gave up and settled with the 4th try. The roll pan at least finally fit the truck. The hitch is now in my attic. I'm one of these days going to just cut it up and modify it so that it will work with the opening behind the license plate.

Re: Roll Pan Towing options

Wow, thanks for that info jdmaffeo, sounds like I went with a good fitting roll pan over Sir Michael.

I was just reading the directions on the Sir Michael hidden hitch. It states the rear spring perch needs to be removed to install the bolts for the hitch. Sounds like I may pass. I just went through all that suspension work, and with the bed on, I know removing that perch wouldn't be fun.

I really don't tow much at all. Maybe I'll just pass the whole idea away and use my blazer when towing is needed.
