Also, will be insatlling a later model caprice rear end and will have to weld mounting brackets from OE type. Are the brackets available or will I have to cut the ones from the OE rear and weld them to the new one?

I just finished swapping a 10 bolt rear out of a 87 suburban (leaf spring truck) into my 63 (trailing arm). If the rear end your using comes from a car that has leaf springs, you'll have to cut off the old leaf spring mounts, and get new mounts to weld on for the trailing arms and panhard bar. CPP makes a conversion kit that comes with the two mounting plates that mount to your trailing arms and weld onto the rear end, a panhard bar mount, an adjustable panhard bar, and all hardware. Everything came out good once finished. If you go onto there website, under the trucks section, its called rear end conversion kit, I think its like $129.00 or so if I remember correctly.
