Is attempting to Convert a C-20 to a K-20 even feasible?
Just picked up this '71 C-20 longbed...got it for a grand. Has a 402/Turbo400/Dana 60 w/ 4:10's/factory air, current tags running driving truck. Previous owner brought it in to radiator shop for cooling system & AC overhaul. Ended up with new radiator, heater core, all hoses, misc AC parts and fresh AC charge (blows cold) and a new carburetor. Customer couldn't end up paying bill and they signed over clear title.
I would like to convert this to a 4x4 but the more i look at other 4x4s on here it looks to be quite a task. I've had lowered trucks all my life and been able to do most things (mechanical wise) or have connections to get it done if i can't, but i've never had a 4x4. Just kinda wanted something different as i have a lowered 70 Halfton shortbed already. My other thought was ditching the 4x4 idea and losing the 3/4 ton stuff and converting to 1/2 ton/trailing arms and shortening the frame and ending up with a big block fleetside shortbed with air Any thoughts? Foolish endeavor? Pics: [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Tim

diy4x.com has the spring hangars (front and rear) and engine crossmember that you need. Add front springs, axle, steering box, transmission, transfer case (with crossmember) and new driveshafts.
Sound like a lot but guys do it often... I suggest finding a K-20 donor truck and swapping bodies.

The frames are different, but can be converted.
Its a TON of work - but nothing like being able to say "I did it myself". Makes the build story all the more interesting.
