WOW this 'lil transformation' to electronics has taken WAY more that I ever EVER imagined. Work got busy (a very welcomed change) and my wife had some health issues,, summer 115° temps, just everything seemed to work against me. Well it's NOT going to win. Closing in on buttoning this pig up and going to the track. Hopefully sometime over the next 60 days!

Exhaust is finished through to the mufflers and turndowns (picts to come but that worked out better than I hoped)

Engine is all buttoned up, in place... Linkager typr throttle stop and controllers makes the drivers side a rather busy place!!!


Most recent setback was pulling the trans back out and fitting a mid plate in the chassis to clear all the headers and crap in the way. Had an expired CSR carbon fiber flexplate shield and trans shield I was trying to use as a added safety measure. Then I remembered ... At Firebird if you have an item on the car, it has to be current or they will fail tech. Don't matter if you need it or not, if it's expired, remove it, or fail!!! So it all came off. Drivetrain is all back in, complete with a new Strange driveshaft, yokes, gear ratio change, etc. etc. ready to roll there. FINALLY!


FINALLY have all the electronics, air bottle, shifter, everything is on a 'tree' and solidly mounted. Still have a bunch of wireing to do!!!)



Only thing in the stock instrument cluster that worked was turn signal indicators and bright light indicator. So used a few LED's from radio shack to keep those functional and put all the normal gauges in the dash.


Probably the coolest thing I found was a Slummit house brand low mount alternator mount for short waterpump will let the alternator wiggle in in front of a motor plate, and inside the 66 frame. With elect water pump and motor plate alternator placement is always a MAJOR PITA! This works out pretty good.

Thanks guys, it's been a long SLOW process. Dropping the motor and trans in was the easy part... WOW what a chore to make everything work as it's supposed to!'

Super, yeah this is a backup motor I had sitting around for the Nova. It's been on my little breakin stand, started every few months just to shake the neighbors up a little. It took the 2980 pound Nova to 9.8's @ 134 in the summer heat just before the new bullet came to be. With the 3360 pounds of the truck, the aerodynamics of an apartment complex, and the rolling resistance of a steam roller,, it ought to go 11.75

LOL, on a good 1.5 seconds of throttle stop.

If I ever get excited about S/ST I'm sure I could put it at 10.90 or there abouts. A off the stop WFO run I'd guess 10.5's or somewhere in that ballpark. Who knows. But the cage and a bunch of other items would have to be updated to go there. Really I'm just looking at it being a fun street toy and a summer racer that I don't have to wear the whole dam fire-suit thing. 100° at midnight is bad enough without gloves, quilted fire protection, neck collar, and all that crap. In the 11's all I need is a single layer jacket and a helmet. Sounds just right for now.

Besides, now I have something that might fit the Az Fastest DOT street car series. It's running DOT stickeys, muflers, turn signals, lights,, plates and insurance. has all the requirements, so what the heck

I like that, 11.75 with 1.5 seconds of T-stop.. That made me laugh..

Sounds like heads up motor to motor our trucks should be some what similar in ET with my new 418. I mean, I hope to go 10.7x with the new motor NA at 3,600lbs. Yours still looks better though Can't wait to see you get it down the track

dbm, I call this one the devils motor,, it made 666Hp @ 6400rpm & 588 lb ft of torque @ 4900 (on a Superflo-901 dyno) That was with long tube 2 to 2-1/8" stepped headers. I had these 1-7/8" headers built knowing I was going to finish the exhaust off with 3" through the mufflers. So I know I'm going to give up 20-30HP I would guess. But being a throttle-stop baby now it's just a matter of plug in whatever it takes to run the target. It's disgusting, I hate watching t-stop racing but I don't think God meant it as a spectator sport,, it's a tuners race for sure.

What's funny (to me anyways) is all you guy's comments on it being clean and all,, sheeeeze I guess I've gotten somewhat picky in my old age. It's pretty dirty if you ask me,,, 'under construction' always is right..... now under-hood of my 67 El Camino,, It's done so that I try to keep clean. 8^)

Just type in 'HELL' in your garmin and it will take you right to us. It's a pretty good haul from the canyon to any of the tracks,, probably a good 5-6 hours. But at least it's all down hill
