Who's running super swampers and what style

I am looking for new tires for my 71. I want something around a 35-38" tire with an aggressive tread that does well in snow and mud so for the snow I don't want too wide of a tire. What are some of your guys opinions?

Re: Who's running super swampers and what style

I used to run TSL's, in 36 inch size. Offroad, they can't be beat. On the street they such ass! I am currently running some goodyear MTR's. I am happy with their performance. The trouble with tires (like anything else for that matter) is that you have to compromise. You can find some that are great at one thing, but suck at everything else. Or you can find some that do everything well, but nothing great. The ideal situation would involve two sets of tires. One for everyday, and one for offroad. But of course that involves more $$!

Well this truck is no where close to a daily driver. Probably won't see much street other than around town. I plan to do a lot of snow drift busting this winter with it though.

personally do not recommend swampers.
in my experience they wear to fast so two sets of swampers in the time for one set of mickeys or procomps of bfg's.

that's my expereince in hot ass arizona and texas.

daily driver dutys.

i use procomps.. but you pay the price and what not. i had a set of super swampers before i did my 37's.. but man they could leave a mean ass black streak like none other during a burn out.

strictly my opinion but i prefer the harder compounds of the three big players over super swampers.

Re: Who's running super swampers and what style

It depends on what the user wants. I have had many different sets of mud terrain type tires over the years. I ran 42'' TSL's on my first truck in high school. Busted through some deep snow drifts and never got stuck. Had 44" Boggers on my 96' when we first built it. Those dig like no others out there. Now have 49" Iroks and I like them a lot. Got that mud terrain tread but do decent in mud and road for a swamper. I have also had BFG mud terrains on my 71' and it did decent in the mud and on road. I have had a variety of Goodyear tires on my rigs. Humvee 36" Bias and Humvee 37" Radials. The bias did great in the mud, but on road they wore quickly. The radials seemed to wear pretty quick as well, but didn't do as great in the mud. I also run 33" Goodyear MTR's on my Jeep, and am going to run MTR's on my 71' this go around. I like them on and off road. IF you are struck on Swampers, I recommend the Iroks in the according sizes you are looking for. The boggers will wear very quickly and the TSL's just behind. The Iroks can come in a radial version, so I assume, they won't be as bad. Trevor

I love my IROKs. I have played in the snow and mud and have never been stuck in 2wd. With the IROKs you also have a great selection in size and are the least expensive of the Interco tire line up.
