You can buy a TB gasket for about a buck or so. Also try removing the EGR valve and clean that too another known problem area, one more thing to check is see if there is coolant leaking out of the CTS, its in the cylinder head under the upper hose boss, if that is leaking you need to replace the sensor and the connector.

I still drive a beater to work, even at 40 y/o! Bought a 92 Subaru several years back for $1000 with 200k on the clock. Still driving it today, and it still gets 28 mpg! I drive about 40 miles round trip to work and back, so I mostly got it to keep from racking up the miles on my trucks.

At my age, it's all about making sure you can get there and back, and not what you look like while doing it!

Hopefully you can get the idle problem figured out.

umm just got 31.1 mpg with a high idle prob is ok.... haha
