Throttle Cable Bracket Question
I've got a 67 250 Head on an 81 block...my question is have any of you guys used one of the universal adjustable throttle cable brackets? Does it work ok? I've got a cable, like I said, but I was looking on Jegs and saw some affordable adjustable brackets.
Does anyone have any pictures of their setup on a 250 that they would share? Thanks! FYI, I have the Holley 390 w/ the Offy Intake. |

Re: Throttle Cable Bracket Question
If you have a 250 straight six and the throttle pedal going from the firewall is a link type system - then all you have to do is make a link. The original one was nothing more then a threaded rod with an adjuster post on one end and a solid 90* bend with a hole for a cotter pin or hitch pin on the other end.
The throttle cable was nothing more then a over glorified choke cable that was also attached to the carb linkage which held the throttle open when you wanted a fast idle in the morning to make it warm up faster. My only other question is - are you talking about a mechanical gas pedal - where you remove the stock pedal and replace it with one that has a cable that goes to the throttle linkage on the carb? Most of those things aren't any better then the stock pedal. We still use the old style design on our stock car as does most all late model dirt cars. Sometimes newer isn't always better. |
