custom bed cover ?
anyone here build there own aluminum bed cover??
im looking at building my own to fit flush in the bed rails of my fleet side, im planning on attatching some aluminum angle to the inside rail for it to sit on and use two hood struts to hold it up, im just not shure how to attatch the hinges at the front, im thinking of some sort of aluminum frame tigged to the cover and hinges bolted to that? anyone done this?

Re: custom bed cover ?
I made mine out of wood and then covered it. Not sure if this helps.

Re: custom bed cover ?
I have swb fleetside and I bought a fiberglass cover off craislist for $100.00.
It came off a fullsize dodge longbed, the green paint on it is faded and one of the lift rods is missing. Niether is a big deal gonna repaint when I paint the truck in a few more weeks and I van get a new lift arm anywhere. Once I get my new tailgate and get everything square I gonna measure the inside frame rails and then cut down the fiberglass bed cover to fit just inside the bedrails for a flush finish. It maybe a little labor intensive but its cheap!!! should have picks in 3-4 weeks...... |
