54 Chevy after 20 years of collecting dust

August 1st was the first time my 54 has been out of the garage in 20 years under its own power. What was once a parts truck for my old 55 5 window now has a new life thanks to an 87/88 S-10 and a lot of other parts left over from past projects. I still have a lot of work to do but my first goal was to get it running.

Looking good, been anxiously waiting on an update. Maybe I'll see you sometime in the future at a show or cruise-in.

Re: 54 Chevy after 20 years of collecting dust

Thanks guys for your interest. When I started this project the intent was to mock the body up, build the mounts, then tear it down and do the paint & body work. But I got carried away, and put a motor and transmission from another project in it. Now that it runs I think I am going to leave the body alone until I retire (in 3 years) and just have a little fun with it for awhile. I may spray a couple coats of clear on it for now and spend the winter working all the bugs out and fine tuning everything.

I'm in Marietta, could I come by and check out your trucks sometime? I've been thinking of doing an S10 swap but can't make up my mind.

Your truck looks GREAT!
If you do clear it,... put some flattening agent in the paint.
You don't want that thing to shine.
It looks perfect the way it is.
