Want to chop roof on 65 panel
I have been looking at ways to chop the top on this panel. I know the front has to be lengthened. I was wonder if the roof needs widened also. I would think so but haven't seen one done. I am looking at maybe a 3-4 inche chop. Thanks new here.

Re: Want to chop roof on 65 panel
i am also intrested in this. yes you will need to split the roof into quarters, weld the side back on and patch the roof. make sure that you brace everything realy well so as not to twist any of the parts back on. also the back corners will be tough i havent figured out how excatly to do it but i know that there is a way.
and remember if you mess it up................. you can always go topless. |

Re: Want to chop roof on 65 panel
follow this path:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=175001 once there click on the link droppedchoppedpanel posted. after you get to cardomain, click on his link that says 65 chevy suburban 1500, that will get you all the pics of the process. he did a top notch job, and it came out real nice + tons of how to pics.

Re: Want to chop roof on 65 panel
Thanks for the info guys. I checked out the 65 chevy suburban 1500 but did not see if he had to increase the whith of the roof. I see where it was lengthened. Got lots of ideas from it though.

Re: Want to chop roof on 65 panel
yeah, looks like he got away without quartering the roof, which would make the job a whole bunch easier.
I had to widen the 3 inch chopped roof on my 61 by 3/4 inch, but with the 64-66 you might be able to cheat that, since the front posts are different.
