OK,
this thread addresses some issues with brackets and such for differant years. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=419306 I have the stock 71 power steering. I want to know what I would need to change it over to a later model with better feel. Is the price differance worth the swap also. O-riley auto parts has the factory 71 stuff. Is a 73 up cheaper you think? I guess I need to check on it. ![]() ![]()

Re: New Power steering
I believe the 77-78 steering boxes have the same hose fittings as ours do and they are variable ratio as well.

Re: New Power steering
I swapped my Steering Gear for one out of an '85 and it was a direct bolt up. I also pulled and used the pump and hoses. The pump sets high in the engine bay unlike the old style. I had a leaky pump and hoses so it worked for me. The Variable assist made a HUGE difference in how my truck drives. I pulled all of these parts used for $47.00
