Had a similar thing working on a Baja bug. I was resetting the rear spring plates to lift it. I had the jack chained to the body while I lifted up the spring plate to get it over the stop. The jack basically flipped itself under the load and the spring plate slammed the floor, knocking the whole car off the jack stands. Had my leg been under there, it would not be attached today. There is still a gouge in my parents garage floor.

Never had that problem as a kid, due to the fact mine were turned up like 3 notches !! Although, the Dune-buggy might be a different story !!
