1958 paint colors? opinions?
Can't make up my damn mind, looking for input and suggestions. My truck is primer, I'm on a really tight budget and time schedule. This is going to be my daily driver so she will live outside. Thinking of either painting it the original "Dawn Blue" and weathering it, or going with varies shapes of gray. Like paint it light gray, and powder coating the grill, bezels and rims and darker shade, and doing the spear and roof another shade. I need ideas. Thanks, TJ

If it's gonna live outside and be a daily how about hotrod black? I also saw a guy that had driven his in red oxide primer so long he liked it and just clear coated it! YOu could do that with the light gray you mention. Chrome powder coat?

I'm trying to decide too. What I've decided is that single stage paint enamel or urethane is less expensive. Has to be solid color because metallics are a pain to spray in single stage. The lighter the color the less fussy the prep has to be. Bright fifties-type colors look great on these trucks and 2-tones with ivory look great too. My truck is flat black right now and I think it does nothing for it. I've narrowed my choice down to 2 bright colors...but the build is still early!
Good luck, for me this has been the hardest choice Oh yeah, and for a daily driver, single stage, non-metallics are easy match on touch-ups

I always liked 58/9 Chevy and GMCs in tan and cream/ivory. If I keep mine long enough to restore it will be tan. Here is a model I did for a visual.

I was thinking about the original blue and do it in a two tone, but there a lot of those. Never have seen a tan two tone.

I do not know my Chevy stuff as well as GMC, but I think the interiors for 58 were silver with charcoal accents. 59s are gold with black accents. If I get around to doing my truck the interior is going to be tan and ivory. GMCs did not come tan in or out in the 50s, but I like it and it will still look stock.
