need some 1961 gmc 4x4 knowledge

better pictures coming but i need some help. i bought a 1961 gmc 1/2 ton 4x4 3 on the tree and the 305 v6 all original was bought new in my home town. my question is what do i have, i know about 67-72 but this is my first 60-66. i think its rare it has a big back window chrome grill and trim aroun back of cab (i have all trim not pictured and the back bumper) it has rust in the typical areas mounts rockers corners etc. the rest of the body and floor is solid surface rust only (except for the driver lower fender) it runs great and i can drive it any where

Re: need some 1961 gmc 4x4 knowledge

that's a beast all right... welcome to the board

It really depends on how far you plan on taking the repairs. I would go buy a nice MIG welder for $500 and fix everything yourself. Keep it driving though because once you tear it apart, you won't get it back together...

Re: need some 1961 gmc 4x4 knowledge

I think '61 was still a year for NAPCO 4x4's. I don't think the factory produced any 4x4's. I'm sure some one will correct me if I am wrong.

But yes that truck is super rare and awesome! Those hubcaps and custom trim are probably the rarest part, but us GMC lovers would be all over the whole truck. Great score!

Re: need some 1961 gmc 4x4 knowledge

thanks for the heads up, as far as a napco truck i think that GM started making their own 4x4's in 1960 up to a 1 ton truck so a 1 ton and bigger napco still made them i could be worng but thats what i read. dose anyone know where i could find the production numbers for 1961 gmc and more importantly 61 4x4 gmc's?
