trailing arms question

I'm planning on replacing the trailing arms on my 64 C 10. Does anyone know the size of the U bolts located at the rear othe arms? Where is the best place to purchase new, bushings,bolts, etc. ? Thanks

What are you replacing the trailing arms with? I ask cuz Early Classic Enterprises (ECE) sells after market beefed up rear trailing arm replacment kits that come with everything you need. Check them out see what ya think. They also just sell replacement bushings too.

Save them or take good measurements. I ended up buying a pair from Lmctruck.com because
Napa didn't carry them
Autozone didn't carry them
Schucks didn't carry them

They all told me the samething after I cut them off. Oh if you bring in a bolt we can take some measurements. Well they where in the trash since I was cutting things off to strip and paint.

Bushings I bought mine from classicparts.com because well LMC wanted more than I wanted to spend.

I found mine at a Fastenal Store for almost 4 dollars for the pair.I believe they are 3/4inch and about 8 in long.

I had them made @ a local spring shop. I brought in a stock u-bolt & told him I needed it 2" longer on each end (2" lowering blocks). $30 (including new crush nuts & washers); it took the guy about 5 -- 6mins & I was ready to go.

Ok I found the label off the U-bolts.



Exactly what does it mean. Well that is for somebody else to pipe up and say.
Keep in mind that there where 2 washers and 2 nuts connected to this as a package that I bought. The bolts for sure are not 3.5 inches long.

Does that mean 3/4 thick with a 3 1/2 gap between the bolts at 8 1/2 long? If so that sounds about right to me

Hey !!!!!!!!! bought a set of rear trailing arms from ebay ! they came from a nascar truck series team ! used of course but thet were only 75.00 for the pair ,same length and they evan fixed my pinion angle with the drop blocks and notch!!!!!!!!!! save the $ of buying repops ! theres normally a pair a week , " truck arm" they look bad a$$ !

Nothing I know of online

However, most spring shops will make them however you want.

I had a set made up while I waited; price was reasonable too.

3/4 = rod dia.
3 1/2 = width ( at inside of legs)
8 1/2 = height ( from inside of arc to end of leg)
Thread should be 3/4-16 fine.
with matching high nuts(which you have) but i don't see the split lock washers that you'll need

Mine came in yesterday from http://www.classicparts.com/. They were 12.00 i piece i think. They fit perfectly. I would say that is the way to go.

Were yours for leaf or coil suspension? Leaf u-bolts are typically cheaper because they're smaller.

Split lock wshers aren't typically used under U-bolt nuts. Heavy SAE flat washers are what I normally receive with new U-bolts. When torqued properly, they won't come loose.

The ones I just took out must have been cracked(and in more than 1 place)
I just assumed it was a lock washer.
I should have consulted my assy manual before I opened my yap

I got a set from my local lumber yard, they had to order them in, they didn't stock any that big. 3/4"- 3.5"- 12"

They are from " Rods Indiana Inc", and 12" long, but threaded enough you could use them for stock (cut off excess).
