Are they the same application for a I-6 and V-6?
Fatman.

I would think so, but I know nothing about the V6 engines. Never even seen one. Anyone else know................?

Except for the tach, it would appear to be the same as a regular dash.
Notice that it's a 3-hole configuration -- means it would be for an early truck with a manual choke correct? Brian |

67/68 trucks used the 3 hole design. The wiper and lights on left and the choke hole on the right. Even 327 auto choke carbed trucks had same bezel, the choke hole was covered with a plate with the GM insignia on it on these.
Any year bezel will bolt up to this dash, so it's easy to swap a 69-72 2 hole bezel if you need to.

The dash came out of a '69 or '70 Chevy with a 292 4 speed. It is now in my '68 and the holes all lined up, but they are labled differently. My headlight switch is in the lower left hole and choke is in the right side hole. They must have changed locations over the years, but the bezel is correct for either '69 or '70. I would change out the bezel anyways, for as little as they cost.

What I meant was, would the tach itself work with a 305 v-6 as it would with a I-6, RPM's being accurate.

Here's a link to a site that has some pics of ol' V-6's, I have one in my '69 GMC Longhorn. http://www.6066gmctrucks.org/V6powered.htm

chevyfatman, the tach should work in either one just fine and read the rpms right. You hook it up to the coil, so being a v6 or i6 has no effect. that should help

And when you swap it over to HEI you'll still be able to work it.

Last chance guys! 7 hours left. Looks like it's going to go cheap. I'm out of town until Monday night and won't be around a computer, so I can't answer any more questions until later.
