question about shift linkage
i have a 71 gmc with 3 on the tree. Up on the column where there the shift rod adjusters go into column there are rubber bushings. Are there supposed to be some kind of spacers as wel?? When i tighten up the nuts on the adjusters, it also tightens the adjuster up in the rubber bushing making it hard to shift.??? Does anyone have these spacers if required??

There should be steel sleeves in the rubber bushings that act as spacers.
