LSX 454 and a 6L90 in a 72 k5 blazer

I am planning on doing a frame off resto of my 72 Blazer. I would like to run a mast motorsports LSX 454 fuel injected small block (700 hp) and a newer 6 speed tranny and put it into my k5. I already have a dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear 4.56 gears detroit locker in the rear, maybe an ARB in the front. I know the mast ecm will control the 6l90. I plan on running around 37" tires and want to be able to drive this thing anywhere. I plan on fully boxing the frame and building a cage tied to the frame. Just wondering what kind of power levels the 6 speed auto can handle. Also wondering if I can bolt my np205 t-case to it, or if I should get a different one. Any advice?

Try advance adapters for the np205 to 6l90 adapter. Hopefully they can help you out. Sounds like a freakin awesome project!

Nothing is set in stone and it will take a while to complete. But this is the combo I would like to run.

If you are going to put that much $$$ into the truck why not scrap the 205 and go with an Atlas TC? I had one in my Jeep and they are awesome!! Absolutely bulletproof!

How much is an Atlas T-case? What are the benefits?

Wow just looked them up--$2300 or so. I can get a lot of 205's for that. This isn't going to be a mudder or rock crawler, and the 205 is pretty strong.

Oh ok, then no reason to get an atlas.

Re: LSX 454 and a 6L90 in a 72 k5 blazer

I work for MAST part tim in the evenings. I used to machine blocks for them but now I help out with the dyno and dressing out the engine before they ship. I'm no expert, but if you have any questions, I can talk to the guy there and get back to you. But unless you just have tons of money to burn, I would consider just running a l92 or ls3. They have some setups that start around 525 and go up from there. Deffinatley not as much WOW factor, but they are a lot cheaper.
