yes, the slapper bar should contact the eye of the spring(thats the proper way). With that said, I have had those slappers "planted" very hard, with warmed up 461" Olds(500ft lbs tork).....the snubbers are a little short of the eyes, but They havent broken those stiff old longhorn springs  On a car, I would be a little leary tho......crazyL
