Need a suspension measurement for a '64-'66 C10
Hi guys,
I don't like to cross post between forums but in a week I haven't been able to get this info so I thought it might helpful to try the Suspension forum. The PO had put Ground Force 3" dropped spring (or so he says) and I only have about 1" between the A-arm metal stop (missing the rubber) and the crossmember stop. Needless to say, it bottoms out all the time. I picked up some 2.5" dropped spindles and want to verify what spring height I need to keep it at the current height. I like how it sits but want more travel. Can someone with with a known amount of drop (i.e. spindles and aftermarket springs, not sagging 45+ year old stock springs) please measure from the center of the spindle to the lower edge of the fender? This will take out any differences in tire height. This will help me figure out where I am at and how to get there. Please, no ground to the fender lip measurements UNLESS you are running 235/70-15" tires on 15x7" wheels. This would match mine and would then be relevant to me. Thanks a bunch!!!

Re: Need a suspension measurement for a '64-'66 C10
Sure, at this point it will give me some reference point.
Spindles only would be nice only because that doesn't change with age.

Re: Need a suspension measurement for a '64-'66 C10
Tonight is fine. Since you are not running the same size tires, please get me the measurement from the fender lip to the center of the spindle not to the ground.
Thanks

Re: Need a suspension measurement for a '64-'66 C10
I got approximately 17-17 1/8 inch from the fender lip to the center of my hub cover ( I have 15" ralley wheels and 255/60/15 tires).
I hope this helps you.

Re: Need a suspension measurement for a '64-'66 C10
Great, that gives me a start so I can figure out how much of a dropped spring I need.
BTW, the reason I asked for fender to spindle center is that is eliminates the wheel/tire from the equation. You can have a small tire/wheel or some monster ones, the fender/spindle measurement doesn't change until you change something in the suspension. I wish more people/companies would use this (very common in the import world) as it gives you a real world drop amount. Thanks again!!!

Re: Need a suspension measurement for a '64-'66 C10
Hey Clyde65, thanks again! Did a measurement on my truck tonight and it sits at 15.5" so it verifies mine are 3" dropped springs and yours are 1.5" ones. Based on that, stock should be about 18.5". Good reference for someone.
