Re: 456 gears with 35s?
How fast do you want to turn your engine? 70 mph would be about 3065 rpm + maybe another 100-200 rpm for converter slip (with a stock converter - a loose one would be more).

I don't think it will hurt the engine any - but you might find it uncomfortable.

Re: 456 gears with 35s?
I wish i had gone with 4.56's instead of 4.10's with the 35's i'm running. But i am running a 700r4 as well.

Re: 456 gears with 35s?
When i do the gear swap in mine, it will be getting 4:56's to go with my 36" tires. Mine's not on the road yet, but I know i ain't gonna be linking the 36's with 3:73 gears.

Re: 456 gears with 35s?
heres a great gear ratio/ speed calculator.
http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html i ran 35s on my 70 with 4.56's and now i have 38's on my k5 with 4.56 and i would have to say my k5 does way better rpm wise than my 70 did. one difference between the 2 was the 70 had a th350 and the k5 has a sm465 but the final drive ratios are the same 1:1. i looked up the difference and your rpm's would be a little higher with 35's as apposed to the 37's you have now. Re: 456 gears with 35s?
if i drove hwy ALL the time 456's would suck,
but 20 mi/min no big deal i do it in my burban all the time. with my 35's/4.56 & OD, i'd do it w/ 488's if i were to do it again.

Re: 456 gears with 35s?
Chevy trucks are popular throughout the world for their performance. I had one of them when I was working in Dubai in the 1990s. It was pretty old, a 1977 Chevrolet C/K Cheyenne. I brought it from an Arab businessman in 1990. I was working as an engineer at that time and had to go to distant places as part of my job. This Chevy was my constant companion and it never gave me any sort of trouble. When I returned to US I sold it to an Indian driver who is still using it.
