Ahhhh... Nothin' like shakin' the sand out of your ears, huh?
I built an extension handle for mine so I can stand back about 2' further and I still get sand all over me, in my pockets, hair, ears, etc.

Get a full face shield, they help a lot, especially with safety glasses inside them.
Blastin' w/o gloves? Yeah, been there, did that! You wouldn't realize you could remove that much skin that quickly unless you experienced it first hand!
