Driveshaft Length
Does anybody have a length measurement for a SWB 2WD turbo350 w/9inch tailshaft housing. Got a sweet th350 with a 6" tailshaft and need to make a new driveshaft. Should just have to add 3" to the measurement.
If you measure from center of u-joint caps, it will be most appreciated. I'm not lazy (maybe a little) but truck is at my brothers house. Figured this may save me a trip. Thanks in advance for any info rec'd. |

Re: Driveshaft Length
I did the exact same thing, but I got a used DS from a yard for $65, one from a 2wd short bed with 3 speed stick shift or side lever 4 speed like a car is perfect. I do have plenty of measures too.
Mine was... 61 inches long from end of back u joint to end of the yoke, total overall length. 57 inches outside of each u joint, NO YOKE, 55-1/2 from center of u joint to center of the other. yoke itself 4 inches to go in trans. 5-3/8 from center u joint to outer end of yoke. That's with a 9 inch tail th350 trans one piece ds in dad's 84 c10 short bed 2wd. Now what you'd need, of coruse as you said 3 inches longer.. 63-64 inch overall from back end of u joint to end tip of yoke. 59-60 end of u joint to end of u joint NO YOKE 57-1/2 to 58-1/2 center to center on u joints. That of course was give or take an inch to be safe. I ended up buying one that was exactly 60 inches end of one u joint to the end of the other. So I'm pretty sure it was 58-1/2 center to center. As you said it was 3 inches longer. I should have got exact measures when I bought it, but I didn't write them down, I knew it was right and would fit, and was excited to get it back in and running. This was just back in aug or so as well.

Re: Driveshaft Length
very welcome man, I know what you are going thru I had the same problems. We thought we had bought a long tail, guy said it was, but looked funny to us, but longer then the short tail I had in my monte carlo, turns out it was short tail, but had a great deal on it. So we found a longer driveshaft.
