20 is 3/4 ton, and 30 is one ton. A one ton could be had with single rear wheels also.

Re: The c/k classification
C/K10 is 1/2 ton and can be short or long bed. C/K20 is 3/4 ton, 30 is 1 ton.

Re: The c/k classification
Just wanted to weigh in and say posters #2, 3, and 4 are correct.
A couple additional comments: The model code is different than the coding contained in the VIN So, additionally, an "03" model is a regular cab truck, and a "43" is a bonus/crew cab. The complete model code might look like: CC10703 = C = Chevrolet C = 2wd 1 = 10 series, or 1/2 ton 07 = short wheel base 03 = regular cab The box type would be a regular production option separate from the model code, ie: E62 = fenderside E63 = fleetside A second example might be: TK30943 = T = GMC K = 4wd 3 = 1 ton 09 = long wheel base 43 = crew or bonus cab Single or dual rear wheels are an RPO on top of that, - R05 being single, +R05 being dual. As the GMT400 truck was being developed the "R/V" designation was used to denote the carryover truck. In later years a '53 model was an extended cab. But - you guys probably already knew that! K

Re: The c/k classification
in 67 - 72 the bed style was part of the model number, not an RPO.

Re: The c/k classification
im down for someone showing me how to do it or helping me out. my sig. means that i learn to do my own stuff, and if i get it wrong, i fix it and do it right, rather than having some one else do my stuff for me all the time. it in no way is me trying to sound arrogant.
