ccsb

I have for the last three days been thinking of building a ccsb. I found[in the salvage sale I buy from] a 87 GMC repo'd subburban. It has the right color[for my plans] int. with the tbi overdrive, pw pdl and high buckets with console. Now, this is where my questions begin. I know i''ll need a crew clip[no cowl] and a short box. Could I use the frame clip form the short box cut long with the back cab mount to make the frame mods nessesary to make this swap? I am assuming [WE ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DO THAT!!] that the frame should be very simaliar to a truck frame untill the end of the back doors? if anyone has any ideas or has done this any help or input is welcomed. jim

Re: ccsb

there is a thread here that shows they cut the frame at the rear cab mount on the burb frame and the short bed frame, using the mount as a guide to get it to fit properly, then welded and boxed the frame where they meet. one thing I also read was to have it all on there to make sure the bed and cab are lined up right. I will look for the thread.....

Re: ccsb

I would think it would be much easier to find a crew cab truck and shorten the frame. Maybe use the 'burb for a parts donor.
Just my opinion.

Re: ccsb

well. I am thinking that the frame mods should not be much different either way. I thought if I used a short bed frame clip it would have the rear cab mount and the front mounts for the bed. Clipping the cab will not be much of a problem . I have done that many many times. The sub has the stuff mentioned in the first post that caught my eye. tomorrow is sale preview day so we'll see. Thanks for your replies. Jim
