roll bar pics

Anyone have any decent pics of a roll bar mounted in a 8' bed.

I think I like the way they look but I cant find any good pics of how they mount and if you can still use a standard bed tool box with them.

Any pics would be appreciated.

I searched but did not come up with much.

Thanks

Re: roll bar pics

Hi GMC87,

My dad used to have one in his 77 but we didn't put it back in after the restoration because we didn't want to drill holes in the new bed floor. They don't show the mounting points very good, but these are the only old pics I could find that show the roll bar:

The hoop just behind the cab bolted to the bed floor in the front corners. The angled hoop bolted to the wheel tubs. On the driver side there was a horizontal bar connecting the two hoops that served as a spare tire mount.

I don't think a cross-bed style toolbox would work with a roll bar like this. Even without that spare tire mount bar in the way, I don't think there'd be enough room to fit a toolbox in there and be able to open the lid without it hitting the angled bars that come up off the wheel tubs.

Re: roll bar pics

it aint an 8ft. but a short bed, and it mounted to the floor in front and in between the tire wells. I don't see why you can't use a tool box, mount it behind the kcikers, or back bars. Might look a bit odd not all the way againist the cab, but it'd still work.
