30 Spline 10 bolts, Discuss - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I know this isn't set in stone but has anyone seen a 30 Spline 10 bolt in a 87 2wd? Like my dad's in my signature.

I had heard before 87's may have been the first year for 30 spline over 28,

Well last night we bought a low mileage 3.42 posi 6 lug rear out of a 90 suburban (old body style burb of course) and becasue it's a 90 it's 30 spline.

We'd like to just take the 5 lug axles out of the 87 and put in the 90 rear and be done.....

Any way to tell that it's a 30 spline 10b besides of course counting them? The numbers on top of the axle tube?
