Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

I spoke with Tony at Ride Tech yesterday. After some discussion for my needs, he recommended the Single Action (S/A) Billet Shocks rather than the Dual Action. I have a set of them on the way.

I decided to add a little extra beef to the system as well. I talked with Jeff at CPP and he is sending a pair of their upper shock bolt braces.

Thanks Tony and Jeff, you input was appreciated.

Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

Just in case your interested in performance. I used the new controls with the Internal ride hieght sensor Shockwaves on my latest project. OK, don't scream, it's a '55 F*%#. I have been Autocrossing it at some Goodguys events, and SCCA, and this stuff is great. The combination of ride hieght and pressure sensing works perfect. And with the D.A. Shockwaves I can dail it in for the track conditions. The new StreetTrucks has a nice feature (if you can stomach the off brand) and there are some track videos on our website www.nolimit.net Oh yeah, we competed in the "Truckin' Ultimate Street Truck Challenge" last month, and were the overall point winner, and the only truck on air. So, I guess it works pretty good

Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

Hey Rob, glad to see you drop in here. I think doing the autocross at the Goodguys events would be a blast. Unfortunately the Goodguys Staff won't change their cut off date to beyond 72 so I can't compete there.

I saw the article on the shop truck y'all put together. It went out and kicked some butt fresh out of the shop with not much more than the cab on it. No worries here bro, we love hotrods. We don't care if they are stinkin old Fords...

It was fun to run at Del-Mar without any doors and fenders (caused a bit of comotion with some competitors) Besides two laps in our parking lot, that was the test drive. It has doors and fenders now. Hope to see you in Oct, Ft. Worth.

Sweet setup and nice write up, . I put level sensors on my Burb and can't wait to see how they perform.

Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

These just arrived today. Sorry for the crappy pic, I will get a better one later. I have no idea how well they work, but it's ashamed to put this under the truck. It is such a nice piece I want to mount it where it can be seen.

N2TRUX, whats the purpose of those ride height sensors? i thought th eold systems just used psi to judge ride height? I read your link, but didnt see anything on what those fancy sensors do.

Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

The e3 system uses pressure and voltage to set your ride height. The pressure only system did not compensate for load variance. If you added additional weight to one side of your truck, it requires more pressure to get to the desired height. The pressure only system will not recognize that need and you have to adjust manually.

With this system it will adjust based on the position of the sensor due to a different voltage reading. Consequently it will compensate for the decrease in weight as you use fuel going down the road.

Nice work! Your squarebody is one of the nicest I've seen.

You're probably still in the "mock up" stage but don't forget to apply the heat shrink to the sensor rod ends.

I appreciate the compliment. I plan to wait till I have the system functioning before adding lock nuts to everything that I can. At that time I will do a final check and add the shrink tube.

Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

N2trux, this is an update for my Caddy from hell! The owner replaced the rear air bags ( leaking ) and after the second time returning the E3 controller that car ROCKS!! New motor, serp belt setup, Spal controller for the electric fans, tons of time, and a cool ride. I call Greg a couple of time a week to check on him and his ride. The other day, I was thinking of him, called and he says " Yea it's great! we are on 9A running 65+ and all is well"
Greg is getting married next week, I went to his Bachelor party. I was 20 yrs older than the youngest guy, I was also the only one without a tatoo. A party bus, two stops, two beers, a $5.00 taxi home about 10. Greg's crew gave it up at 3 a.m. Figured out that I have know this 32 yr old 25 years! he is a good guy

Chip I am glad to hear you got it all worked out. I know from our conversation that it was bugging you that you couldn't get the last few details wrapped up. I am against that wall right now, but determined to complete the mission.

I got it "almost" finished and ran in to a wall. I was down to the wire having it ready for the Ft Worth Goodguys show, and ran short on time. I had problems with the ride height sensors not reading correctly so I had to disconnect them and run the system off of bag pressure.

The good news is a I made the debut in the Ride Tech booth at Goodguys. The really good news is the E3 system will function just fine off of bag pressure alone.

After the show I was inundated with work issues that have kept me away from the project till this past weekend. I pulled all of the ride height sensor and found some issues that need to be addressed.

I am sending the E3 ecu back to Ride Tech for the latest software revisions, and hope to have the system 100% very soon.

Re: e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square

As you can tell its been a while since my last update. The project has moved forward, but I had to make a choice. I could thrash and get it working for a trip to Goodguys and a spot in the Ride Tech booth, or take time to write the article as I went. I chose to have it ready for the Goodguys show and feature spot in the Ride Tech booth. (pic below)

Since I got back, a long list of life issues took priority and the article was at a standstill. I have some of my family obligations accomplished, so now its time to wrap the article up. Stay tuned for more updates....LINK
