I started to sand and prime the front end of the truck to shoot some black on it to match the rest of the truck but wasn't motivated to do more than 1 fender.

Re: What did you get done 11/21/2010

I pulled and cleaned up the interior out of my parts truck so I can install it in my '74. I put the headliner in yesterday afternoon, but had to wash the carpet and clean the seat, as well as the headliner trim. It's not a new interior, but the price is right. I am still up in the air about having black or white door panels and seat when the time comes, though.

I have been to them a LOT of times in the 10 years or so that I have had my truck. I only found ONE good dash pad in that time. I told my buddy to take it and I would get the nice one. A few months later he got rid of the truck, and I have never found another good dash pad.

Re: What did you get done 11/21/2010

Didn't get anything done on the truck yesterday. Today I took a bunch of scrap to the junkyard, and I found out that I get to go back to work after almost 2 months off! The doctor didn't like the idea of me going to work so soon, but my broken ankle is now just a sprain. So I might as well be able to earn some money on it.

Re: What did you get done 11/21/2010

absolutely nothing, but on 11-23 I got my truck back after having to have my starter housing machined down. Got to test out the 4x4 finally in the snow and ice. Works great. Going to go get my studs put on in a bit even though I don't think I need them, but it can't hurt. Might get motivated to get a stereo in there today too. Maybe.

I put the shocks on the rear of the 73 K20 and fished the speaker wire out of the bottom of the drivers side door. This holiday weekend I hope get a few hours of solid work done on it...but I always fear Mr. Murphys law will sneak up and get me.

That sucks. I've only seen one other one in good shape in a yard here in Austin but they wanted a lot for it. I feel pretty lucky. I am thinking about dyeing it but it seems like a shame since it's so nice. I find all the good stuff in SA and hardly anything here in the Austin ones. Go figure.

Re: What did you get done 11/21/2010

I found one out where I live, oddly enough. Dash was in great shape. Everything else was either rusted all to crap or torn up and moldy. I think God must have been smiling on me that day. Then my starter went out, gas tank gauges and switch malfunctioned, reverse lights quit working, muffler blew a hole in it, lost my transfer case, and stereo died. Like literally within a week.... guess that was my payment.

Think I got it all done as of now. Going to replace the other muffler just so it matches next week, and then I think I'm done working on it for the winter. I hope. It'll get paint and body work and such in the spring.

Oh, gas gauge and switch still don't work but I'm going to have to live with it cause it's too cold to be crawling around in the snow underneath.

Re: What did you get done 11/21/2010

I picked up extended cab no 5. Its an 86 GMC K10 with a 6.2 diesel. I have been looking for a squarebody diesel for quite some time, just never thought Id find one in an extended cab. Body and interior are excellent. Has a blown head gasket. Its the only one of these with a diesel in it that I know of.

Thanks guys. Not a whole lot of plans really. This truck is near perfect. Theres not even a dent in the floor of the bed. It was used by a printing company. It has two dings the size of a dime, and the clear coat is peeling a little. Im gonna get the dings out and reclear it. Other than that, i just gotta get the head gaskets replace, and get it going again. Pretty much just wanna make it a driver. I may change wheels on it and go with 32x10.50s, but nothing extravagant. Just enough to fill the wheelwells properly.

Those wheels look great on these trucks, just need the hub caps to finish them off.
