Re: Oil change time!

I use Havoline 10w40 in my C/10. I have used it in the engine since I purchased it new back in 98. No problems with it. They are right about the Rotella losing its Zinc content. I ran it in my 'Cuda for several years, and still do, but I add a bottle of ZDDPlus to the oil when I change it now. I use Valvoline VR1 10w30 with a bottle of ZDDPlus in my 406 that is in my 67 Camaro. If you go with VR1, it needs to be changed every 1,000 miles or so. It doesn't have the amount of detergents in it that conventional oils have.

Re: Oil change time!

You can still change oil every 3,000 miles like any other oil with VR1. I've seen no issues with it and thats all I run in my daily driver. Valvoline's website and the bottle says nothing about that.

I doubt that, you can call the Valvoline to confirm this.

If I thought an oil needed to be changed every 1000 miles I'd have an oil analysis preformed, and if it did need changing, I'd change the brand of oil.

Re: Oil change time!

I agree with Hubscrub. I use 10W30 Pennzoil. I change it every winter even if I only put 2, 000 miles on the engine.

Re: Oil change time!

I sure hope Pennzoil has changed their oil from years ago when I was messing with lots of vehicles. I always knew the ones that used Pennzoil because they would be the ones with white milky junk in their engines.
